Gambian player who has been in a Kenyan jail for over a month, risks deportation.

Ebrima Sanneh, who last featured in a premier league match for Nairobi City Stars, was sent to jail after he failed to pay Ksh100, 000 (approximately 830USD) bail.

He is accused of being in the country illegally and using expired immigration documents.

Sanneh has been playing in Kenya for over seven years but could not get a new visa after his passport expired.

He was arrested on October 3 in a police raid that was targeting foreigners living in the East African country without valid documents.

Sanneh was granted an Sh100,000 cash bail and a surety of a similar amount but he could not raise the cash bail.

Sanneh who parted ways with Nairobi City Stars in 2021, was said to be in talks with Kibera Black Stars but the deal may now fall through with authorities determined to deport him, allafricasportsnews.com reports.

The embattled player arrived at City Stars in 2019 for his second stint. He has also featured for Ushuru, Kariobangi Sharks and Gambian side Real de Banjul.

In the 2019/20 NSL season, Sanneh was the City Stars’ top scorer with eight goals, goals that earned his side promotion back to the top tier.
