YAOUNDE, July 28 (Xinhua) — The final draw for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament will be held in Cameroon on August 17, the country’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education who is also the president of Local Organizing Committee, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi said on Wednesday.
The draw ceremony will take place in the country’s capital city of Yaounde and the Central African was ready to host the event, Kombi said in a statement Wednesday night.
Confederation of African Football initially scheduled the ceremony in June but postponed it due to “logistical reasons” caused by the Covid-19.
The biennial football championship will take place in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6 next year.
The continent’s top sporting competition will see the participation of 24 teams.
