The 13th edition of the All African Games has been postponed after an agreement between the event’s major organisers was reached.

All African Games competitions were scheduled for 14-19 August 2023 in Accra, Ghana.

The West African state won the bid to host the Games in 2018 and by 2021, Ghana had started preparations including unveiling of the competition’s mascot and the website for the contests.

Misunderstandings between key stakeholders such as the Association of National Olympic Committee (ANOCA) and the Association of Afdican Sports Confederations (AASC) impacted the Games negatively.

Meanwhile, pending issues between the disputed parties have been resolve in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with the African Union (AU) playing the mediation roles.

The All African Games will now take place in 2024 with the actual commencement yet to be confirmed. Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast are the three cities expected to host the Games.
