Bandari FC picked their first win under coach Twahir Muhiddin as they beat KCB 2-1 at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa on Wednesday.
The Dockers had dropped points at the same venue when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kakamega Homeboyz in the previous match, while the Bankers had downed Kariobangi Sharks by a solitary goal.
Shaban Kenga had a chance to hand the hosts a deserved lead inside the first 10 minutes but could not finish a good pass from Mohammed Siraj. The former failed to hit the target with the goalkeeper stranded.
A goalmouth melee in the 18th minute ended with the visitors managing to clear the ball from the danger zone.
The Zedekiah Otieno-led charges conceded a free kick in a good area and Siraj delivered it. The ball fell to William Wadri but the defenders reacted fast to clear the danger.
It turned out to be a one-sided affair as the Dockers put their visitors under immense pressure, but good defending limited them from getting the sight of goal.
However, Bandari were rewarded two minutes after the break.
Dennis Odhiambo brought down Cliff Kasuti in the danger zone and Wadri converted the resulting penalty after sending goalkeeper Gabriel Andika the wrong way.
The second goal came in the 75th minute as Yema Mwana danced his way past the defenders before slotting the ball past the custodian to cool the nerves of the technical bench.
Reagan Otieno pulled a goal back for the Bankers but it was too little too late as Bandari held on to claim maximum points.
