The January Transfer Window is one of the most exciting and important times in the football calendar.
It is a chance to freshen up the dressing room, clear out those who are not carrying their weight, and even loan out players that need regular football to develop.
For many clubs it can act as an equaliser. Take Chelsea as an example. One of their top defenders Ben Chilwell $20.68, has been ruled out for the rest of the season following surgery after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament.
Marcos Alonso $15.27, is the alternative left wing back option, he is a great option going forward, he can deliver a great ball into the box, he has good vision, he is lethal from set pieces but defensively he is a liability. He also just turned 31 which is not ideal for the wing-back role.
Chelsea desperately needs a left back at the club. If Alonso was to pick up an injury they would have nobody. Without a January Transfer Window they would be in serious trouble and their title hopes would be all but gone.
Thankfully, the January Transfer Window is alive and well. The Blues have been linked with a move for Everton’s Lucas Digne $32.92. The Spaniard has been consistently a top performer for Everton but has fallen out of favour under his under pressure boss Rafa Benitez.
The timing could not be better for Chelsea, they need a top left back, ideally who is familiar with English football, and who is available. Digne ticks all those boxes and he could be crucial to Chelsea steadying the ship in their title race. However, Chelsea will need to put in a rock solid offer as they face competition from Napoli, West Ham United, and Newcastle United.
Newcastle United have been counting down the days until the reopening of the January Transfer Window. The Magpies are under massive pressure in the Premier League with just 1 win in 19 games, they sit second from bottom in the table. To make matters more uncomfortable they have played two games more thanBurnley who are one place above them, and they have played one game more than Watford who are two points clear of them.
Eddie Howe’s side need to get fresh bodies ASAP. They have the money to spend it is now just a case of, can they attract the top players to join the team second from bottom in the Premier League. The Magpies have agreed a £12 million fee with Atletico Madrid for the services of full back Kieran Trippier $17.33. He is a fantastic player with Premier League, LaLiga, European, and International experience. A great bit of business if they can get this one over the line.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang $4.72, is being linked with a move up north to Newcastle following his rift with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta. Arsenal are delighted to have the January Transfer Window just as much as Newcastle as they are desperately trying to offload their £350,000 a week striker. The last thing Arsenal need is another Mesut Ozil situation. They are looking to get Aubameyang’s massive wage bill out of the club to free up funds for a new addition.
The Gunners are keen on Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak $2.08. The Swede has been doing well in LaLiga. He has been praised by England and Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand:
“He will be a good signing. Another young talented player. He has done really well in the Euro’s for Sweden. I thought. He is a talented player, man.” – Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel.
The January Transfer Window is a blessing for Arsenal too in their push to secure a place in the top four. With a fresh hungry striker coming in it could be that kickstart they need up front to go on a run of form that secures them Champions League football.
