The postponed 2020 men’s Africa Club Championship will be staged in Cairo, Egypt, from March 31 until April 12 even as the fate of the opposite gender still remains unknown.

The event was pushed back by a year following the outbreak of the Covid-19 early 2020. Winners of the the respective domestic leagues and runners up usually book an automatic ticket to the premier Africa club competition.

The Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) confirmed early this week that Egypt will host the competition but without giving specifics. Traditionally the men’s version usually paves way for the women’s edition though the mother body did not give any information on the same.

The men’s version of the game will serve off on March 31 until April 12.

Organizers of the women’s competition are yet to be named though sources told SPORTS AFRICA that Egypt might host both events with most national federations reluctant to stage this edition.

The championship is the most prestigious inter club competition in the continent.

Registration deadline is set for February 25th and March 18th as final confirmation date for participation.

Egyptian side Al Ahly are the record and reigning men’s champions.

Winner of the event will book a ticket to the annual FIVB World Club Cup Championship.

Meanwhile, the 2020 U19 boys African Nation’s Volleyball Championship will be staged in Abuja. The age group event will be played simultaneously with the 2020 U18 girls African Nation’s Championship.

Cameroon, DR Congo, Central Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Madagascar and host Nigeria have so far registered their interest to the competition that starts March 1st through to March 9th 2021.
