Liverpool were left frustrated at Anfield after a 0-0 draw against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their last 16 Champions League tie.

Bayern Munich showed all their Champions League experience and defensive discipline as they kept Salah, Mane, Firminho and co at bay for the entire 90 minutes to take a draw to their backyard in two weeks time.

The result leaves it all to play for in the second leg in Munich on March 13, although the German side will be without defender Joshua Kimmich who will be suspended after picking up a yellow card.

There were few clear-cut chances in the game although Liverpool created several openings in the first half, while at the other end their goalkeeper Alisson Becker had to be alert to keep out a mis-hit clearance from Joel Matip.

The closest Jurgen Klopp’s side came in the second half was a diving header from Sadio Mane in the 86th minute which Manuel Neuer pushed around the post.

Klopp was however hopeful his team could still go to Bayern and get a good result adding that it was a tight game.

“We made our life difficult by getting the last pass wrong a couple of times, but we defended well and will take that to Germany,” he said.
