Two-time world 5000m champion Hellen Obiri has confirmed participation in the TCS World 10K Bengaluru 2022 Road Race on May 15.

The Kenyan star will run alongside fellow Doha 2019 gold winner Muktar Edris of Ethiopia, organizers announced on Wednesday.

The Bengaluru race returns after a three-year hiatus enforced by the global pandemic, with the last edition of the World Athletics Elite Label Race taking place in 2019.

Also announced for this year’s TCS World 10K is the former holder of the world half-marathon record, Kenya’s Kibiwott Kandie, who has a 10km personal best of 26:51 from last year, almost a minute faster than the course record in Bengaluru.

Ethiopia’s Tadese Worku, who is only 20, is another man with a 10km best inside 27 minutes, having run 26:56 in September 2021 just a few months after he won the World U20 3000m title on the track.
