Mathari Hospital FC captain Gilbert Alwalo Ojuka is psyched and upbeat ahead of their opening fixture of the Nairobi Regional League season 2022-2023 Zone B against Kisa All Stars on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Sports Africa, Gilly noted that the squad under the tutelage of the passionate head coach Stephen Ominde Oluoch is well prepared and ready to face impending challenges along the way in the competitive league.

The lethal skipper guided his side to the competition after netting a brace against RYSA in the Sunday’s playoffs staged at the Mathare Depot Grounds, where the former side ran riot against the latter with a convincing 5-2 victory.
The side has ropped in new signings as they aim to advance to higher stages in Naorobi and national football competitions.
Gilbert Ojuka explained the journey of Mathari Hospital FC to the Regional League;
“Well, for starters I can say it has been a very tough journey. Especially convincing players to play for the team without pay. I bet their passion and devotion made things a little bit easier for us to manage,” the soft spoken captain narrated.
“This has been the best team to work with. The energy on and off the pitch, their ability to work and learn as a team,is so motivating and uplifting. Mathari Hospital FC is the best family one can join,” he continued.
Commenting on the tough league assignments awaiting them, Gilly as famously known by his peers revealed that Mathari Hospital FC is a force to be reckoned with and that any side facing the outfit must come well armed.

“And it’s hard to play against us. We are always prepared to face any team without fear. Prayers and good training from our coaches give us motivation and allow us room for improvement. Our mindset is always of putting God first and winning each match at a time.” He concluded.
Mathari Hospital FC will host Kisa All Stars for their first league match of the season at the Mathare Depot Grounds on Saturday.
