African-record holder Ferdinand Omanyala will participate in the forthcoming  2023 Diamond League scheduled for May 5th to September 17.

This year’s event which lifts off in Doha in early May premises to be a blockbuster with the world’s finest athletes converging for the top prizes in different fields across different host cities.

Making his debut at the fourteenth season of the annual series of outdoor track and field meetings  organised by the World Athletics, Omanyala will be seeking to leave a mark in the competition.

Omanyala turned down the invitation to compete at the last year’s edition after it clashed with the African Championships that he eventually  won in Mauritius.

“You will definetely see me in the Diamond league, I can’t reveal where my debut will be but it’s happening. I got some invitations last year but they clashed with the Africa championships which was a priority.”

Meanwhile, the Commonwealth Games 100m champion recorded  the fastest time in this year’s 2nd Athletics Kenya track and  field weekend meet at Nyayo National Stadium in February. However, the World Athletics (WA) failed to ratify his world lead of 9.81.

The particular  world lead was not recognised by World Athletics  due to what is suspected to be an error with the wind reading equipment at Nyayo Stadium.
