Kenyan Premier League strugglers Kisumu All-Stars have appointed Andrew Aroka as their new coach effective immediately.
The promoted side have struggled to make an impact in the top tier and are currently at the bottom of the table with just eight points from the 19 games played.
After Mike Mururi snubbed the Kisumu based side for Sofapaka, the club have confirmed a short term deal for Aroka.
“Yes, we have appointed [Aroka] as our new head coach effective immediately,” All-Stars CEO Nicholas Ochieng’ confirmed to SPORTS AFRICA.
“He understands our team well and will not have much problem in adapting. We have given him a six-month contract and will be extended once he achieves the set objectives.”
The administrator insists the team has a chance of getting out of the relegation zone.
“A lot need to be done, but we will definitely make it; it is a matter of getting positive results consistently,” Ochieng’ concluded.
Aroka takes over from Henry Omino who was fired two months ago after failing to turn the club’s fortunes around. Arthur Apiyo has been serving the club on an interim basis.
The Kisumu based side are four points below safety.
