Sofapaka FC put the brakes on Gor Mahia’s title run with a 3-1 win in the Kenyan Premier League game played on Saturday.
It took Batoto ba Mungu less than two minutes to find the back of the net courtesy of Promise Chinoso whose header was too good for David Mapigano who had barely settled in his area.
K’Ogalo won a corner in the 15th minute and Kenneth Muguna managed to pick Samuel Onyango. The latter managed to head the ball past the defenders and goalkeeper to make things even.
However, Chinoso was at it again in the 55th minute, this time around heading in an Elly Asieche corner before Sebastiene Ikekhai sealed the win with a thunderous strike with five minutes to go.
Earlier on, Wazito FC returned to winning ways after downing Western Stima 2-1.
The Stewart Hall-led side had gone eight consecutive matches without a win, seven of which were loses and were keen on getting a win against the Powermen.
Augustine Otu opened his account with the moneybags when he converted a Musa Masika pass in the 50th minute.
However, the teams were back in level terms after Kevin Omundi beat an offside trap to race clear before finding the back of the net.
However, Masika ensured his team go home smiling when he struck a winner with few seconds to the end of the game.
At Kasarani Stadium, Kevin Kimani scored a brace with James Kinyanjui scoring once to help Mathare United to a 3-1 win against Zoo FC. The latter scored their consolation courtesy of Collins Nato.
In other results, Posta Rangers fell 2-1 away against Chemelil Sugar as Ulinzi Stars and Nzoia Sugar battled to a 1-1 draw.
Bandari and Kakamega Homeboyz replicated the same scoreline at Mbaraki in Mombasa.
