Local based players dominate Starlets squad for Turkish Women Cup

Mwanahalima Adam has been called up to the Harambee Starlets squad that is set to take part in the nine-nation Turkish Women Cup scheduled between March 2-11, 2020.

Adams is set for a try out in Sweden with Djurgardens IF but the deal is being dragged down by the delay in visa issuance by the Swedish Embassy.

The squad that was released on Wednesday by head coach David Ouma is largely composed of players who lifted the Cecafa Championships title in Tanzania last year.

The tactician also widened his scouting net to the grassroots,  calling up Falling Water’s player Jane Njeri who showed immense skill in leading her team to retain the Central regional title at the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom.

Vihiga Queens forward, Cynthia Shilwatso, a natural defensive midfielder, and Thika Queens Cynthia Kaveya will be battling for a final place in the defens department.

Thika Queens player Rachael Muema has once again received a call-up to the squad.

Coach David Ouma is expected to trim the squad to a final list of 21, few days before the team jets out Turkey on March 2.

The team is expected to hit camp on February 23, 2020, in Nairobi.

A local friendly match has been lined up on Friday, February 28, 2020.

Kenya, who’s squad comprises mostly of local based players will battle it out against  Hungary, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Romania, Uzbekistan, Northern Ireland, Turkmenistan and Chile.
