Kenya Women Volleyball team, Malkia Strikers  have stopped training after it emerged the government would not fund their trips to Brazil and Serbia, head coach Paul Bitok has said ahead of World Championships.

The Malkia Strikers camp has been dismissed due to lack of commitment from the national government and relevant authorities to facilitate travel logistics to the training destinations.

The Kenyan team was scheduled to travel to Brazil on Saturday morning for a two-month training camp organized by the international volleyball governing body FIVB as part of the team’s preparations for the event scheduled for September and October in Poland and the Netherlands.

The team needs Sh46 million to cover various costs during the training programme.

It was also earlier said that Malkia Strikers risk suspension from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) sbould the team fail to participate in the competition.
