Rejuvenated Kenyan side lost 3-0 straight sets to powerhouse Italy at the ongoing FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in the Netherlands on Thursday night.

Malkia Strikers were hunting for their second consecutive victory in Pool A Phase 1 of the competitions but went down fighting against the European giants by 15-25, 23-23-25 and 17 -25.

The result meant that Malkia Strikers remained with a single win out of four outings. The Kenyan ladies lost to the hosts Netherlands 3-0 in their opening fixture before getting a 3-0 beating in the hands of Belgium in their second fixture.

Kenya bounced back to their winning ways in their third group match with a 3-0 win over fellow African side Cameroon on Tuesday.

Malkia Strikers will now face Puerto Rico in a do or die encounter, a must win match for the Paul Bitok’s charges on Saturday.
