Juventus won  a record 8th Supercoppa Italiana on Wednesday with a 1-0 win over AC Milan in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Cristiano Ronaldo headed in Miralem Pjanic’s lofted pass in the second half to settle a meeting between Italian football’s two most successful clubs.

It was Ronaldo’s 16th goal of the season for the Serie A leaders.

Patrick Cutrone hit the crossbar for Milan, who had Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie sent off.

Gonzalo Higuain, reportedly wanted by Chelsea, was introduced as a substitute, but was unable to deliver an equalising goal for the Rossoneri.

Speaking to Rai Sport after the game, Juventus boss Max Allegri said the game was tough, but Ronaldo made the difference.

“We played a good but Milan made it difficult, but we managed to break them down and won it,” he said.

“Cristiano was excellent, we took him for this, he’s the best and he scored goals for us.”
