Kenya’s rugby 15s head coach Paul Odera has made five changes to his 23-member squad ahead of their clash with Namibia in Stellenbosch, South Africa, on Sunday.

George Nyambua joins the experienced backrow that features his captain Daniel Sikuta alongside Joshua Chisanga.

This change sees Stephen Sakari, who started last week against the Carling Champions, move to the bench where he is joined by Brian Wahinya, Ephraim Oduor, Peter Kilonzo and Brian Juma.

Odera has opted for Nyambua for his power and experience having played against Namibia in the past.

“Wahinya covers both scrumhalf and flyback and he is also quicker than Barry Robinson so we are looking to see if that will give us a bit of an edge. Juma is excellent at the lineout so it will be good to have him come in as an impact player,” the head coach said.

Wahinya is set to make his debut for the Kenya 15s and is raring to take his opportunity to impress if called upon.

“I have worked very hard for this opportunity. I am very grateful to be part of this team and playing with this group of gentlemen is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he added.

The match will be played at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport.
