Simba SC hit the 50-point mark after defeating Polisi Tanzania 2-1 in an entertaining clash played on Tuesday night.

The Tanzania Mainland champions came into the match as favourites having won two out of the last four matches against the same opponent and drawing the rest.

However, it was not going to be easy against the visitors who are known for their physical approach.

Wekundu wa Msimbazi struggled to break the administrative side and it was not a surprise when they were punished in the 23rd minute.

Striker Sixtus Sabilo received a good ball in the danger zone, managed to beat his markers before finding the back of the net.

In the second half, the 20-time league champions came back stronger, trying to get an equalizer. Captain John Bocco delivered in the 57th minute following Polisi’s poor marking.

It, however, seemed like the two teams would share the spoils as the match hit the 90th-minute mark with no clear winner. However, the visitors switched off allowing Ibrahim Ajibu to hit the winner.

The result took Simba to 50 points from 19 matches, 13 more than Azam FC who are in the second position. Namungo are third with 19 points less.

Earlier on, JKT Tanzania and Coastal Union played to a 1-1 draw in another top tier encounter.
