Tanzania Mainland League leaders Simba SC dropped points in league restart after drawing 1-1 with Ruvu Shooting Sunday.

With 71 points collected in initial matches played, Wekundu wa Msimbazi knew five wins in the remaining matches would be enough to hand them their 21st league title and having overcome Ruvu 3-0 in the first leg, getting maximum points on Sunday seemed routine.

And It took the hosts just 12 minutes to find the back of the net.

Rwandan forward Meddie Kagere managed to find Shiza Kichuya in the danger zone. The latter’s initial attempt was dealt with but the ball fell favourably on his feet and he capitalized on the second chance.

However, in the 37th minute, Ruvu were given an equalizer by Simba custodian Aishi Manula.

The Taifa Stars goalkeeper misjudged a corner taken by Abdallahman Musa and Zullu Maganga headed in from close range.

In another match played on Sunday, Azam FC claimed a 2-0 win against Mbao FC at Azam Complex, Chamazi.

After a goalless first half, the FA Cup champions needed four minutes in the restart to punish their visitors courtesy of Richard Djodi. The second goal came in the stoppage through Shaaban Idd.

Simba are now leading the standings with 72 points, 15 and 18 more than Azam and Yanga SC respectively.
