Uganda Cranes will miss Police FC midfielder Yusuf Ssozi in the forthcoming Chan tournament.
The Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup defending champions are set to make their fifth appearance in the competition to be held in Cameroon from April 4th to 25th.
Police FC coach Abdallah Mubiru has confirmed to Kawowo Sports that the experienced player will be out for two months or so.
“We thought it wasn’t going to take long but it appears he got a tear on the meniscus. He is still out for 6-8 weeks according to the medical team,” Mubiru said.
Ssozi was instrumental for Uganda Cranes in qualifying matches, and his absence will be a major blow to their ambition of making it past the group stages.
The East Africa nation has never gone past the group stages in the 16-team competition.
The player was last involved for his club on January 11, in the team’s 2-1 loss to Wakiso Giants.
