The newly appointed World Kickboxing Federation Kenya President Japheth Yahuma Adongo (Takid Master) has vowed to give the country’s combat sports a new lifeline.
In a letter dated January 21, 2023 to the Kenyan Government and Sports Ministry, Takid Master was formally announced new Kenya Combat Sports Federation President and certified promoter by World Kickboxing Federation Chief Executive Officer and World President Mr Robert Wilesmith.
“On behalf of the WKF World Head Office, I Mr Robert Wilesmith (WKF CEO and World President) wish to formally announce that Mr Japheth Yahuma Adongo (President of Kenya Sports Combat Federation KSCF), was appointed the prestigious position as WKF Kenya President and registered international promoter,” the letter reads in part.
Wilesmith noted that Mr Adongo will also represent WKF World Sanctioning Body for all WKF Kenya combat sports without contestation in the country.
The WKF Kenya boss will oversee all the Boxing, Kickboxing, MMA, Sanda/WuShu, Kung Fu, Traditional All Style/ Forms, Martial Arts and Extreme Combat Sports in the East African nation.
Following his appointment which takes effect immediately, the fresh WKF supremo has promised to bring visionary stakeholders on board with a common goal of uplifting the face of Kenya’s combat sports, an area that has been lagging behind in international competitions for ages.

“I will work with anyone irrespective of their gender and educational background, provided they share my vision of breathing a new life into the Kenyan combat sports, the elated WKF Kenya President said.
He went ahead to reveal that his federation will fully comply with the stipulated guidelines under Kenya’s Sports Act;
“I have been part of the Kenya Kickboxing Federation for the past 14 years and my dream has eventually come to pass. My dream is to see the passionate youth in the country reap the fruits of their hard work and determination.”
Adongo also threw a shade at the Kenya Kickboxing Federation office led by Secretary General Willie Nganga and Vice Chairman David Okiya for failing to put the welfare of boxers at the forefront during their reign.
Mr Nganga is accused of single-handedly running the Kenyan Kickboxing Federation under World Association of Kickboxing Organisation (WAKO) with avoidance of conducting open, fair and credible elections at the organization.
The present WKF Kenya office swings into action with their first international assignments on the horizon as Kenya prepares to host the WKF World Pro and Amateur MMA, K1 Kickboxing titles scheduled for April 8, 2023 in Nairobi.

“I’m now working on getting sponsors on board for the upcoming April 8th first ever international Belt Title to be held in Nairobi, Kenya under my watch. We need a budget of KES4 million. It will be a bigger, proffesional fight contest with 3 Kenyan champions participating.” Adongo explained.
A total of seven countries have confirmed their desire to compete in the upcoming contests in Nairobi;
• Australia
• Morocco
• Nepal
• Egypt
• Tanzania
• Namibia
• Angola
Meanwhile, Mr Adongo is further directed by the World Kickboxing Federation to recruit additional officials into the WKF Kenya Federation in the following positions;
• WKF Kenya Vice President
• WKF Kenya Secretary
• WKF Kenya Treasurer
• WKF Kenya Pro Kickboxing Executive
• WKF Kenya Amateur Kickboxing Executive
