Record African champions Al Ahly could face German champions Bayern Munich in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup.

But before that, the Egyptian club must first go past Qatari side Al Duhail.

The winner of the match, set for 1 February at the Education City Stadium, will face European champions Bayern Munich in the next round

Al Duhail recently signed Kenya striker Michael Olunga who last faced Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League while turning out for the record Kenyan Premier League side Gor Mahia.

Ahly though, will miss the services of play-maker Walid Soliman.

FIFA Club World Cup provides another opportunity for coach Pitso Mosimane to challenge for another prestigious title with the reigning African champions

The former Mamelodi Sundowns tactician guided Al Ahly to the CAF Champions League title last December.

The South African goes into the crucial assignment that presents a true test for his glittering coaching career, without the 38-year old Soliman, one of the squad’s most prominent figures.

Soliman suffered a hamstring tear in Ahly’s 0-0 draw against National Bank Ahly.

He’s set to be sidelined for at least four weeks.
