Malkia Strikers of Kenya picked their first victory at the ongoing FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship by striking Cameroon 3-0 in straight sets on Tuesday in the Netherlands.

It was the first meeting between the two African representatives at the World Championship this year as Malkia Strikers ran riot with 25-20, 27-25, 25-19 against the West Africans in Pool A Phase 1of the competitions.

Kenya finalised their revenge against Cameroon after losing 3-1 to the same side at the 2021 Africa Nations Championships, whereby the latter claimed their third consecutive title in Rwanda in September.

Prior to the Tuesday’s encounter, both ends had lost their two respective opening fixtures in the Netherland with similar 3-0 defeats in all the particular outings.

The East Africans, Kenya lost to Netherlands and Belgium, while Cameroon went down to Italy and the host nation Netherlands.
