KAMPALA, April 7 (Xinhua) — Uganda remain the football giant in the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa ) region despite a drop in the lastest FIFA world rankings released on Wednesday.

Uganda fell to 84the place in the world but remain top in the Cecafa region followed by Kenya, Sudan and Rwanda.

Uganda’s fall was due to the failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) after losing to Malawi last month.

The 2019 Afcon runners-up Senegal remain first in Africa, but lose two places in the world rankings. They are now placed 22nd, while Tunisia are 26th and Nigeria rise by four places to 32nd.

Belgium maintain their top spot in the rankings with 1,783 points, followed by France and Brazil.
