The Football Kenya Federation has fired Harambee Stars head coach Sebastien Migne.

FKF finally bowed to pressure from local fans who had been calling for the resignation of Migne.

Most Kenyan fans had lost confidence in the tactician following a string of poor performances during his one-year stint with the national team.

Migne came under sharp criticism after Kenya were bundled out of the CHAN qualifiers by Tanzania.

The Frenchman later made it clear that he will see off his contract that was to run until 2021.

Both parties agreed to mutually terminate the contract, meaning that FKF might be forced to fork out something in the tune  Sh50 million (5 million US dollars) in compensation.

“FKF and Migné have agreed on a settlement for the coach, over a period of time,” reads a statement from the federation.

FKF did not immediately communicate the re-organisation at the technical bench although assistant coach Francis Kimanzi is expected to hold brief as the federation scouts for Migne’s replacement.

“The re-organization and appointment process for a new technical bench is already underway and the team to steer the Harambee Stars forward will be announced shortly,” said FKF statement.

Just last week, Migne dared FKF to sack him while at the same time doubted if the federation could “afford me.”

“If the federation wants to fire me, let them fire me, but again if paying my salary is an issue, will they manage to pay out my contract?” Migne posed.

The Frenchman signed a three-year deal in May 2018 which binds him to qualify the senior national team for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Kenya lost two of their three AFCON matches, beating only Tanzania but lost to Senegal and African champions Algeria.

Harambee Stars now turn their focus on the upcoming 2021 AFCON qualifiers, with a view to try and qualify for the final tournament.
