Kenya moved to position 103 with 1,205 points in Fifa rankings after their October 9 win against Zambia’s Chipolopolo in a friendly match played in Nairobi.

Harambee Stars had not kicked a ball since December 2019, and were playing against a team whose players have been active prior to game having managed to defeat Malawi by a solitary goal.

Against all the odds, it was Stars who managed to get a 2-1 win. As a result, they moved three positions up from their initial ranking.

Uganda, who were not involved in the international week, remain the highest ranked country in the Cecafa region.

They have managed to retain their 1,321 points but still moved a position higher. Cranes are placed in position 76.

Taifa Stars of Tanzania dropped points from 1,086 to 1,081, but still retained position 134. This is a result of their 1-0 loss to Burundi in their international friendly game staged at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on October 11.

Saido Ntibazonkiza, who now plays for Yanga SC, struck the only goal with five minutes to go to hand the Swallows a deserved win.

As a result, Burundi moved to 148th position, a positive move by one, with 1,058 points.

In the East Africa region, Sudan are 128, followed by Rwanda (133), then Ethiopia (146) and finally South Sudan who are 168.
