The World Kickboxing Federation of Kenya has embarked on a mission of community development through mixed martial arts and combat sports as a whole.

Commenting on the campaign, WKF-Kenya President Japheth Yahuma (Takid Master) has reiterated the role of Kenya’s MMA governing body away from the boxing ring, explaining that his administration is determined to transform the society and promote talent search for individual and community empowerment.

“What we are doing as a federation is using MMA as a tool to eradicate poverty, drug and substance abuse among our young people in the society. We are aiming at keeping the youth busy by engaging in meaningful activities such as talent development in our community,” Adongo said.

Takid Master will on May 12, 2023 take the WKF-Kenya community development initiative to Kamulu,Ruai where he will inspect two life-changing projects in the area.

The WKF-Kenya chief will tour Chapters Counselling and Treatment Center and Ndia Park on the particular fan-filled day where the community will be sensitized against drug abuse and the related vices.

Chapters Counselling and Treatment Center is a vital facility in Kamulu set up by mixed martial arts stakeholders in the region with a goal of restoring dignity and self reliance among drug addicts.

“The projects that I will be inspecting in Kamulu are a true reflection of our mission as a federation. We are determined to conserve our environment, fight drug abuse in our community through sports…more specifically kickboxing and combat sports in general.

“We are a society rich of talent but more often we fail to make good use of these God-given gifts by failing to spot and nurture them. I call upon individuals, the government and and private sector to join forces and help us elevate the status of mixed martial arts in Kenya. Our main challenge in this journey is inadequate sponsorship ” he concluded.

The World Kickboxing Federation of Kenya has also communicated its plan of coming up with a well organised national league as a way of breathing new life into a sport that has been grappling with serious setbacks like financial constraints.
