Senegal talisman Sadio Mane scored twice as Bayern Munich secured their third win by trashing Bochum 7-0 in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

The German giants made a fairy-tale start on home soil, as Leroy Sane broke the deadlock after drilling past Bochum keeper Manuel Riemann with Bayern’s first attack after four minutes.

Bochum had a chance to level the score, but Philipp Hofmann shot over from 11 meters in the 23rd minute.

Bayern remained ruthless in front of the target and made it 2-0 moments later, when new arrival Matthijs de Ligt headed home Joshua Kimmich’s cross.

Bochum couldn’t clear the ball from the box, allowing Kingsley Coman to tap home a rebound from close range in the 33rd minute.

Sadio Mane thought he had made it four, but his goal was disallowed due to a handball. However, the Senegal international got his name on the scoresheet just before half-time, after Sane danced though Bochum’s defence before feeding Mane to tap home.

Mane wasn’t done with the scoring and wrapped up his brace at the hour mark after converting a penalty into the bottom corner.

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors as Cristian Gamboa cleared the ball into the wrong goal to make it 6-0 in the 69th minute.

Bayern showed no mercy as Serge Gnabry finished off a solo run with a well-placed shot into the far corner to see off Bochum 7-0 in the 76th minute.

“We always try to perform. It is important that we bring the necessary consistency, not only in terms of the result but also the way we want to behave,” said Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

“We can only congratulate Bayern. It hurts but it is what it is. Next week against Freiburg we want to show a better performance and get the first points,” said Bochum head coach Thomas Reis.

Elsewhere, Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt is still waiting for its first win of the season as Cologne held it to a 1-1 draw after Jan Thielmann canceled out Daichi Kamada’s opener.
