Michael Olunga made his debut for his new team Al Duhail SC in a 3-1 loss to Al Saad in the Qatar Stars League game played on Tuesday.

The lanky Kenyan striker quietly joined the Qatari outfit on Monday and was thrown straight in the starting lineup for his new side.

It was not going to be an easy outing considering the fact that he was playing against a Xavi Hernandez-led charges who had former Arsenal and Spain midfielder Santi Carzola.

It took the hosts just six minutes to open the scoring through a penalty. Olunga’s new skipper Almoez Ali was fouled in the danger zone and he dusted himself and calmly converted from 12 yards.

However, Baghdad Bounedjah responded with an equalizer in the 14th minute before completing his brace five minutes after the break.

Olunga was substituted in the 65th minute after putting in a decent performance as Senegalese Sulley Muntari took his place.

But it was the visitors who struck again; with three minutes to go, Bounedjah scored his third to walk home with the matchday ball.

Olunga joined Duhail from J1 side Kashiwa Reysol where he helped them to a seventh place finish with his 28 goals in the 32 matches played.
