President William Ruto led millions of Kenyans in celebrating the historic  victory of marathon great Eliud Kipchoge moments after winning the 2022 BMW Berlin Marathon on Sunday.

Kipchoge clocked 2:01:09 to break his own record in the streets of Berlin, bagging his fourth title at the competition in Germany.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, President William Ruto said;

“The greatest has done it again; breaking the world record! Congratulations Eliud Kipchoge for winning the Berlin Marathon for the fourth time. You are truly the King of the Marathon,” Ruto wrote.

On his part, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga said;

“You were already arguably the best marathoner, and now you’ve taken your domination of the distance notches higher. A great precision run flawlessly executed once more, breaking the world record. Congratulations Eliud Kipchoge. Keep flying our flag high.”

Former Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho also congratulated Kipchoge following his Sunday’s win.

“Congratulations Eliud Kipchoge for setting a new marathon World Record of 2:01:09 at the 2022 Berlin Marathon. A true embodiment of the human spirit and an inspiration to millions across the globe,” Joho took to Twitter.

Renowned sports presenter and radio host Carol Radull also expressed her satisfaction in Kipchoge’s achievement on Sunday.

“His Goatness Eliud Kipchoge stopped racing against humans long time ago.Eliud races against the clock. We have just witnessed something special as Eliud breaks the world marathon record and sets a new record of 2:01:09. No human is limited. Congratulations G.O.A.T.” She said.
