The Toronto Raptors started their 2022-23 NBA campaign with a 108-105 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.

Toronto had a balanced attack with at least 15 points from all five starters. All-Star forward Pascal Siakam led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds, both team highs.

Guard Gary Trent Jr. knocked down a game-high four three-pointers to finish with 19 points, while forward O.G. Anunoby chipped in with 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Fred VanVleet, the team’s other All-Star, managed 15 points and four steals in a game-high 39 minutes of action.

Raptors head coach Nick Nurse was impressed with his team’s approach to their season opener.

“It didn’t feel anything like last year, they were ready,” said Nurse after the game. “Their body language, their communication. They were really locked in.”
