Kenyan international Ayub Timbe is on the verge of sealing a deal with English Championship side Reading FC.

The Harambee Stars midfielder reportedly had a successful medical with Reading on Thursday and the deal could be sealed anytime from now before the January transfer window closes Friday midnight.

Timbe is currently attached to Chinese club Beijing Renhe who were relegated from the Chinese Super League last season. He is set to join Reading on loan for the reminder of the season.

Renhe is owned by Dai Yongge who also owns Reading and according to reports from England, the deal could made permanent if the 27-year-old winger impresses during his loan spell.

Timbe secured the move after a short trial with Royals over the past couple of weeks and sufficiently impressed to earn a deal.

If successfully, Timbe will be returning to Europe, having earlier featured for Genk and Lierse in Belgiun Pro-League.

He move to China in 2017 after joining Renhe but he would later be sent out on loan to Heilongjiang Lava Spring FC. His loan deal was, however, cut short when he was recalled by his parent club Renhe in 2018.

Timbe made his international debut for Kenya in a 2-1 defeat to South Africa in October 2012 when he come on as a second half substitute in the 61 minute.
