Uganda U17 women’s head coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi has recovered from Covid-19 and resumed his duties ahead of a World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.
The tactician was diagnosed with the virus in the first week of October and has since been under isolation. However, a latest test revealed he is negative and ready to continue executing his duties.
“Having been tested positive for Covid-19 and went into self-isolation with the guidance of the medics, I have now fully recovered and proven negative after undergoing further tests,” The youthful Khalifa said in a statement.
“I have now been cleared to continue with my daily chores. I will rejoin the national U17 women camp preparing for the Fifa World Cup U17 qualifier against Cameroon.
“I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the medical team, president of Fufa Moses Magogo, my family and friends who have supported me during these trying times,” Khalifa added.
“My gratitude also goes out to the technical staff and officials that have been handling the team in my absence.
“I look forward to seeing the entire team again on Saturday 17th October 2020 in camp.”
After eliminating Ethiopia and Tanzania in previous rounds, the East African side got a date with their counterparts from West Africa on October 30 with the return leg set for a fortnight away.
The aggregate winner will play in the Fifa World Cup finals in India next year.
