Tusker FC captain Humphrey Mieno is adamant that the Football Kenya Federation Premier League defending champions, Tusker FC will be out for maximum points against Posta Rangers in the final fixture of the season and title decider on Sunday.

The skipper has rallied the Brewers  to step up and give their best on the pitch when the team takes on the Mail Men at the Ruaraka Complex on Sunday seeking to defend their league title.

The match will be of huge impact as a win will see the team retain the FKF Premier League title and clinch a 13th crown with second placed Kakamega Homeboyz posing a real threat to their mission.

Tusker and Homeboyz are tied on 60 points in 31 outings. However, the Robert Matano’s charges enjoy a healthy goal difference of 21 as Homeboyz have 17 goals in the season.

“It is going to be a tough match against Posta Rangers but it is a must win game. We are ready and everyone is prepared and even you can see it in training that everyone is focused and looking forward to a good match,” Mieno said.

He added; “We are coming in for a win. A draw or a loss is not good fir us and we don’t have another opportunity at the Trophy so it is a must win. We are focused and ready to beat them come rain come shine.”

At the same time, the skipper has lauded the team for bouncing back from a tough start to the season where the team struggled to knit results at the beginning. However, the team turned the corner and have been on a steady unbeaten run.

“It has been a great turnaround but I will be happier if we lift the trophy. It will sum up our season well. It will show what we have done as a team. We started badly but we have come up together united and we can see from the results we have had. Now let us take it a step higher and finish with the trophy,” Mieno added.

The midfielder has also stated that the team will approach the match with calmness and minimal pressure.

“We have been in this situation before and we need to come in without pressure. It will be hard if we put pressure on ourselves. We just need to give our best and hope it will be enough for the day. If we put pressure on ourselves it will be hard to perform,”

“We have to be calm and relax, remain focused because we know what we want from this match and what the team wants,” he added.

On the other hand, Kakamega Homeboyz will be out against Kariobangi Sharks in Mumias trying to dethrone Tusker and clinch their maiden FKF Premier League title on Sunday.
