Gor Mahia have suffered the first Kenyan Premier League defeat this season after falling by a solitary goal against Mathare United.

K’Ogalo came into the match seeking to register their sixth straight win in the top tier league and return at the summit.

However, the Slum Boys had other ideas and they tried to get an early goal but the likes of Chris Oduor and Clifford Alwanga  were wasteful in front of goal.

Francis Afriyie thought he had given the defending champions a lead in the 44th minute but the assistant referee’s offside flag denied him.

It was the same case for James Kinyanjui who shook the net in the 70th minute for Mathare United.

The 2008 champions looked hungrier of the two sides and were rewarded in the 82nd minute courtesy of Daniel Otieno who rose highest to convert Kevin Kimani’s corner.

K’Ogalo remain second with 15 points, one more than sixth-placed Mathare United.

At Moi Stadium in Kisumu, three goals in five minutes handed Western Stima a 3-1 win against Bandari FC.

Abdallah Hassan opened the scoring for the visitors in the 30th minute after a swift counter-attack.

Goalkeeper Samuel Odhiambo converted from the spot to level matters in the 48th minute before Bernard Ochieng turned the ball into his net two minutes later.

The five minutes of madness for the visitors ended in the 52nd minute when Baron Oketch scored the third for the Powermen who remain unbeaten in the league.

Stima are now seventh on the log with 13 points while Bandari are 10th with two points less.
